When we were initially approached about "adding LEDs" to an existing chandelier, it was a bit unclear how interesting a piece it would be. The client's beautiful space and architect's attention to detail were signs of a good project. We signed on, not fully understanding how long it would take to execute our vision.
The wire framework of Paola Navone's Angelus has a gothic intricacy that presented a formidable challenge to encrust in two colors of clear-lensed diodes. A few hundred hours later, we presented our client with a formidable centerpiece. The crystals and candle flames glow separately from the more numerous cool white LED outlining the entire form.
The sculpture is dimmable via an iPad linked to a Crestron system. Looking through the chandelier and out across the Hudson River, lit skyscrapers from Jersey City present a nice background to the minimalist decor of the apartment.
Thank you to MKCA for bringing us on and to Sofie Iommi for fabrication work.
